We are seeking a versatile and highly motivated Space Systems Engineer/Operations professional to support a critical Department of Defense (DoD) initiative. This role involves system design, operations planning, and mission execution for advanced space systems. The successful candidate will ensure the operational readiness, performance, and long-term sustainment of spacecraft, ground systems, and integrated mission operations, contributing to the success of this national security program.
Contract Overview:
Golden Dome is a national-level, whole-of-nation initiative in which you will play a critical role in advancing next-generation homeland defense capabilities. If you are seeking a fast-paced position focused on developing innovative software for the Space-Based Interceptor mission, this opportunity is designed for you.
Responsibilities:
As a Space Systems Engineer/Operations specialist, you will:
System Design and Engineering:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and integrate space systems, including spacecraft payloads, ground systems, and communication architectures.
  • Ensure system designs align with mission objectives while adhering to DoD requirements and standards.
  • Support systems engineering processes, including requirements definition, risk analysis, and interface development.
Mission Operations Support:
  • Plan and execute mission operations for space systems, including spacecraft deployment, telemetry analysis, and maneuvering.
  • Monitor real-time system performance during operations and provide technical oversight for anomaly resolution.
  • Perform pre-mission readiness activities, including simulations, rehearsals, and ground system validation.
System Integration and Testing:
  • Participate in the integration and testing phases of spacecraft and ground components, ensuring readiness for operational deployment.
  • Support end-to-end testing of systems, including functional, environmental, and operational validation.
Operational Continuity:
  • Develop and maintain operational plans, procedures, and workflows to ensure mission continuity.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for operational anomalies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Optimize system performance and reliability during mission execution and sustainment phases.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Coordinate with program managers, technical teams, DoD stakeholders, and external contractors to achieve mission-specific objectives.
  • Act as the liaison between systems engineers and operations teams to ensure seamless communication during mission phases.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare technical documentation, including procedures, mission logs, system evaluations, and performance reports.
  • Deliver briefings and updates to program leadership, engineering teams, and DoD stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in space systems engineering and/or mission operations, ideally within a DoD or aerospace environment.
  • Hands-on experience in spacecraft systems design, testing, or operations.
  • Proficiency in tools used for mission planning, system monitoring, and data analysis (e.g., STK, MATLAB, LabVIEW).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex technical challenges during mission operations.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with space system requirements, including orbital mechanics, payload integration, ground systems, and space environment considerations.
  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or similar certification.
  • Knowledge of advanced operational technologies, including autonomous systems and machine learning applications for space operations.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with 10+ years' related experience; Master's degree preferred.
Required Security Clearance:
Must have an Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
5 years' prior experience for access to Special Access Program Information (SAP), or Controlled Access Program (CAP); must have 1 year in the last 5 y
