Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Processing Technician IIfor our Carson, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

General Summary:

Interprets process specifications, work orders and verbal instructions of all heat treating processes and processes relating to heat treat. Selects time and temperature cycles to ensure compliance with drawing and specifications requirement.

Specific Responsibilities:



  • Heat treat operations of tools, dies, cutters and production parts where distortion, oxidation, carburization, and decarburization must be controlled
  • Startup heat treat equipment
  • Change thermocouples and perform weekly systems accuracy test
  • Is familiar with all department procedures
  • Operates Rockwell Hardness Tester
  • Can set up and operate the induction machine
  • Controls furnace atmospheres as required
  • Assists in maintenance and repair of heat treat equipment
  • Weigh and count parts before and after heat treat process, and moves parts to next sequence
  • Schedules furnace loads as required
  • Train other operators as required
  • Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.


Knowledge and Skills:



  • Knowledge of general heat treat requirements for age titanium, age aluminum, stainless steels and solution treatment of all steels, etc.
  • Proficient in verifying paperwork
  • Proficient in cleaning processes
  • Understand plating applications as they apply to the heat treating process
  • Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly workplace in accordance with 5S standards

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:



  • Minimum +1 year of plating experience
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
