Position Summary |
The Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations at the University of Georgia's Franklin College of Arts and Sciences leads and directs the college's annual giving and alumni relations programming, helping to build a culture of philanthropy and increase participation among alumni, parents, faculty/staff and friends. The role involves strategic planning and execution of events and initiatives, coordinating with academic departments and managing budgets. Additionally, the position requires active portfolio management by cultivating and soliciting leadership-level annual gifts, with a focus on high-value donors and multi-year commitments. It also includes collaboration with the central university's development office to synchronize messaging and strategy for college-wide annual giving campaigns. This position works collaboratively with development and alumni relations staff to design and implement multi-channel fundraising solicitations, including direct mail, digital campaigns, phonathons, scholarship support through the Franklin Advantage fund, and giving society solicitations such as Cornerstone and Franklin for Life. The ideal candidate will be data-driven, creative, and passionate about higher education fundraising. The Director of Annual Giving is a full-time professional position with regular travel required. Additional duties will be required on homecoming weekend, football Saturdays, and at other special events which fall on nights and/or weekends.

Leadership, Portfolio Development and Solicitation
- Supervise and provide strategic leadership to the annual giving and alumni relations staff, aligning activity in all portfolios with college priorities.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects and donors
- Conduct approximately 6-8 donor visits per month to cultivate, solicit, and steward top tier annual donors with a focus on high-end, multi-year pledges.
- Work with major gift team and prospect manager to identify and refer major giving prospects as appropriate.

Development and Execution of Annual Giving Solicitations
- Set annual goals and measure/ report progress towards goals in terms of dollars and donors, as well as measuring the success of various annual giving strategies.
- Determine strategy and implement a comprehensive multichannel direct marketing plan for college-wide annual giving
- Fund raise for restricted and unrestricted needs with a focus on meeting college priorities.
- Collaborate with the College Marketing and Communications team to create compelling content and campaigns to raise money for Franklin College through segmented and targeted appeals (direct mail/email/phonation, etc.) tailored to various constituencies (e.g., alumni by department, affinity group, giving level) as well as donor stages (e.g., donor acquisition, retention, and upgrades) through data-informed strategies.
- Execute calendar of annual fund activities and events (e.g., Dawg Day of Giving) with associated deadlines and assignments.
- Engage student ambassadors, alumni, and campus partners to enhance annual giving efforts.
- Work with academic departments and schools within Franklin College to coordinate targeted appeals, mail, email, newsletters, crowd funders, etc. as approved by the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations.
- Coordinate and execute annual fundraising efforts with Central Annual Giving's office on central solicitations on Franklin College's behalf.
