JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Penn State Center for Supply Chain Research seeks to fill a part-time position of up to 20 hours per week for approximately 24 weeks. The candidate responsibilities are:

  • Seek out, collect structured and unstructured data, cleanse, process, and organize supply chain datasets from various web sources, industry reports, industry organizations, public data sources (i.e. census, public intelligence) to support business intelligence and research
  • Cleanse and process data for accuracy and consistency, preparing it for analysis
  • Use analysis skills to identify trends, patterns, or insights and present findings for specific supply chain management industry phenomenon through reports and visualizations

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in supply chain management and terminology, specifically in the warehousing and logistics functions.
  • Must be able to ensure high quality data collection, integrity, and readiness for analysis.
  • Strong command and background in data management and experience working with varying sizes of data sets.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and derive meaningful insights; includes quantitative and qualitative analysis and recommendations for further research and action.
  • Meticulous in ensuring data accuracy and handling exceptions or anomalies in data.
  • Capable to translate data into readable information and accessible formats (i.e. Excel spreadsheets, data sets).
  • Ability to develop data tables and visualizations (heat maps, charts, info graphics) to help illustrate findings.
  • Capable of developing innovative solutions to overcome technical challenges encountered during data collection and information preparation.
  • Ability to present findings in a professional report and presentation formats suitable for publication.
  • Ability to work independently with little guidance and provide regular updates to project leadership and participate in regular virtual calls/meetings.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check, and the National Sex Offender Registry Clearance (NSOR).Additional clearances may be necessary if you resided outside of Pennsylvania in the past five years. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
