Summary:

Jr Transition Counselors support the implementation of the Respondent Component Career Counselors (RCCC) programs by assist personnel transitioning from active duty through counseling, and coordination with individuals and agencies as required in Accordance with (IAW) Army National Guard (ARNG), National Guard Bureau (NGB), and Department of Army (DA) guidance and policies.

The Jr Transition Counselors counsel and present transition opportunities for ARNG and USAR, And Army to AC Soldiers for the purpose of continued service and develop contracts for ARNG and USAR accessions.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide a monthly roll-up of all contracted AC to ARNG/USAR accessions by locations to the COR-RA.
  • Provide individual counseling to Soldiers to determine their interest and eligibility for RC affiliation. This counseling includes benefits, options, incentives, and entitlements for Soldiers who are eligible for continued service in the RC.
  • Analyze reports from DPRO, AUVS and the RETAIN to identify and verify potential vacancies.
  • Conduct bi-weekly transition briefings to AC Solider groups (average of one (1) hour) at various locations. Briefings will be provided by COR-RA.
  • Conduct monthly RC strength brief to command leadership (average 30 minutes) at various locations. Briefing template will be provided by the COR-RA.
  • Develop and maintain a monthly roster to identify all Soldiers in assigned units with 180 calendar days of ETS at each place of performance. The contractor shall create and send appointment letters to the Soldiers chain command.
  • Ensure all transition documents are complete and placed in proper order.
  • Submit completed transition packets to the Senior Government RCCC for processing and signature approval. Once the Government signature authority completes the initial QC check, the Contractor shall maintain a copy of the transition contract and provide the original transition contract back to the Soldier.
  • Fourteen calendar days prior to a Soldier's ETS, the Contractor verifies the Soldier's eligibility by reviewing an updated MEDPROS and Soldier Record Brief (SRB).
  • Coordinate with ARNG (IST/ISR), USARC G1, to verify or request vacancies that are not loaded or restricted for fill in the RE.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must be familiar with standard concepts practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan an accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in customer service skills and use routine office equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), and web-based applications.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Possess at least 4-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a current or previous Army 79 series identifier.
  • Must have at least 2 years' experience in the military lifestyle through personal and/or professional experience with military personnel and military family members - someone who has an in-depth understanding of the military culture and the command structure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Training and Development, HR Management, Counseling, or other related field.
  • Minimum 2-year career counseling and/or education experience.
  • Active Secret clearance

Pay and Benefits

Salary range for this position is $26.00 to $28.00 per hour.
