Meet the Team Join Cisco's Common Hardware Group (CHG) EMC Test Group-a central team responsible for
electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and certification across a broad range of products, including Cisco 8000 Series Routers, Catalyst 9000 Switches, IoT solutions, and more. As part of this group, you'll collaborate with Product and Project Teams, Hardware and ASIC Design/Test, Power Engineering, Signal Integrity, and Mechanical Design. This dynamic environment will expand your EMC expertise and contribute to the successful launch of industry-leading products.
Your Impact As an EMC Test Specialist, you will be responsible for testing, simulating, and validating the EMC
performance of Cisco hardware products to meet worldwide regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with other teams for the setup and configuration of Cisco hardware.
  • Coordinating with project and EMC design teams to plan prototype allocations, define EMC test cases, and schedule testing.
  • Configuring Cisco hardware and software to exercise Equipment Under Test (EUT) during EMC compliance evaluations.
  • Writing Test Assessment Plans (TAP), defining EMC test cases, and generating detailed EMC test reports using in-house tools.
  • Following EMC test procedures in accordance with global regulatory standards, including but not limited to:
  • EN/IEC 61000-4-x series, 47 CFR Part 15, ICES, CISPR 22/24/32/35, VCCI, CNS 13438, KN 32/35, EN 300 386, EN 55022/24/32/35.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 2+ years of related EMC testing experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with test and measurement equipment such as EMI receivers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power amplifiers, and power meters.
  • Experience with at least one of the following EMC standards: CISPR 32, CISPR 35, Railway EN 50155/EN 50121-3-2/EN 50121-4, or NEBS GR-1089.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IXIA traffic generators and wideband communication testers.
  • Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and networking topologies.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS and XR operating systems.
