Stanley Consultants is currently looking for a Technical Designer for our Austin, TX office.
Job Summary: In the role of Technical Designer, the member will perform a variety of engineering tasks across multiple disciplines for either small projects or selected segments of larger projects. This role involves applying standard design engineering techniques and principles to develop solutions for minor design challenges. The ideal candidate will be capable of leading small projects and exercising independent judgement in selecting and applying engineering techniques and criteria.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data from various sources including reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to support project planning and design.
  • Participate in client communications and attend both onsite and offsite meetings to discuss project specifics and requirements.
  • Help in developing probable design cost estimates and contribute to the preparation of project budgets.
  • Serve as the onsite resident project representative, monitoring construction progress and ensuring compliance with contract documents.
  • Prepare and review design computations and quantity estimate as per project requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies and permits.
  • Direct designers and technicians in converting designs into working drawings.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare project documentation.
  • Engage with vendors, regulatory agencies and sub-consultants to gather necessary information and ensure project requirements are met.
  • Sign and seal engineering plans, documents and reports in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements
  • Occasionally perform drafting tasks as needed.
  • Maintain adherence to the company's quality assurance and quality control standards as outlined in the quality manual.
  • Assist in the development of design guides, guide specifications, and design control procedures.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: High School diploma required, some college preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering discipline.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficient in design software, excellent communication and project management abilities. Work within general procedures, requiring frequent judgement and initiative.
Stanley's Approach to Flexibility
While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
