Job Summary: |
This part-time (.50 FTE) communications professional within the Department of Dermatology at CU Anschutz plays a key role in advancing the department's mission by developing and managing strategic messaging that highlights clinical excellence, research innovation, and educational leadership. This role involves creating content for internal and external audiences, including newsletters, press releases, faculty profiles, social media, and web updates, all tailored to reflect the department's values and achievements. The communications professional collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and institutional partners to ensure consistent branding and effective storytelling that supports recruitment, fundraising, and community engagement. In this academic medical setting, the communications professional also supports initiatives that promote dermatologic research, patient care advancements, and educational programs. They may assist in organizing events and coordinating media outreach, The ability to translate complex scientific information into accessible language are essential. This role requires adaptability, creativity, and a strategic mindset to elevate the department's visibility within the CU Anschutz Medical Campus and the broader healthcare community. Key Responsibilities: Content Creation & Editorial:
Plan, design, write, and distribute the department newsletter on a quarterly basis to Faculty, Staff, Trainees, and Alumni. Draft and edit announcements, event communications, and leadership messages for broad distribution. Attend departmental events to gather stories, photos, updates, and highlights for dissemination through the website and newsletter. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and leadership to gather content, make revisions, and ensure accuracy. Ensure messaging is consistent, professional, and aligned with departmental priorities.
Digital & Web Management
Maintain and update the Department websites, ensuring external communication is current and reflects departmental changes. Ensure departmental communication aligns with departmental branding and School of Medicine standards.
Design & Branding
Create flyers, email graphics, promotional materials, event invitations, and other visuals to support departmental initiatives. Provide polished, branded materials for internal and external distribution. Develop Department-branded PowerPoint templates and other presentation resources as needed.
Event Promotion & Support
Support event promotion through email campaigns, posters, and digital outreach. Attend and document departmental events for promotional and archival purposes.

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings. |

Minimum Qualifications: Entry:
A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Intermediate:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution 1 year of professional experience working in corporate communication marketing & digital media which may include public relations, nonprofit & government, creative and editorial work.
A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Foundational knowledge of interpersonal communication principles. Proficiency with digital productivity and collaboration tools, including Google Suite and Canva. Exceptional written communication and editorial skills, with a keen eye for detail and clarity.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Outstanding customer service skills. Exceptional writing skills and developing clear, concise, and key massage-focused communications. Highly organized and dependable; able to multitask, work quickly, and effectively and manage deadlines with minimal supervision. Self-Starter with ability work independently and in a team environment.

Anticipated Pay Range: |
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as: Entry Level: $23,058-$29,329.50 Pro-rated to a .50 FTE Intermediate Level: $25,093-$31,918 Pro-rated to a .50FTE The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
