Responsibilities

This position reports to the Manager, Collection Logistics and is responsible for customer service, communication, and organization of blood drive setup and break down. Donor Services Drivers represent Rhode Island Blood Center to
donors, drive sponsors and the public and ensure efficient and effective blood collection activities. Responsibilities to include, packing for, transporting to and setting up mobile blood drives and delivering blood from fixed and mobile
operations. Individuals in the Donor Services Senior Driver position must also participate in a wide variety of other assignments contributing to the overall success of the Donor Services blood collection activities. These individuals are
expected to assume a proactive leadership role in the department and to role-model effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:

    Perform all tasks of the DS Advanced Driver position.
  • Assist Logistics management in developing and distributing work schedule for Drivers through evaluation of
    scheduled operations, hours of operation, type of operation and available resources.
  • Assist Logistics management in overseeing blood collection operations, including evening and weekend operations,
    as needed.
  • Assist in ordering supplies and submitting requisitions for both RIBC warehouse items and outside vendor items.
  • Participates in all aspects of Packing Room and equipment QC and repair including the collection and entry of QA
    information; maintains QA associated forms, logs and electronic files, with the oversight of Logistics management.
  • Reassignment of vehicles, as needed, for emergency repairs or maintenance while ensuring all operations run.
  • Coordinate maintenance/repairs for vehicles with outside vendors as needed.
  • Uses all electronic tools available (i.e. Cell Phone, email, etc.) to review changes in daily blood drive schedule, and
    to communicate regularly with Logistics management regarding problems or issues within the Logistics area and
    potential solutions.
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities as assigned on weekends or for vacation coverage during the week.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and creativity in addressing scheduling changes or assignment of tasks due to call outs.
  • Presents a positive and professional image; maintains a positive staff environment.Effectively coaches and mentors drivers on efficient operations, proper equipment and supply levels, solid
    customer services skills and adherence to administrative standards and SOPs. Delegates responsibilities appropriately.
  • Effectively manages multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function autonomously.
  • All other duties as assigned

Education:

High School Diploma

Qualifications:

  • Detail oriented with strong organization and time management skills.
  • The ability to deal effectively with a variety of people through excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates autonomy and critical decision-making ability.
  • Typically requires 3 or more years of successful Donor Service Advanced Driver experience and may promote
    sooner if individual exhibits superb leadership skills under that time frame.
  • Valid Driver's license required. No major driving violations in the past 3 years upon hire and continued good
    driving record during employment.
  • A government issued REAL ID driver's license or valid passport is required.
  • This position involves a varied work schedule that may include long shifts (more than 8 hours/day) as well as
    early shift start times and late shift end times. May occasionally result in taking call on with back-to-back weekends.
  • Required to work in all weather conditions and Inclement weather conditions such as snow and ice may result in limited accessibility
  • to blood drive locations and may require higher level of physical activity.

The proposed hourly pay rate for this position is $25.00/hour.
