OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Part Time / Temporary Project Manager (20 hours per week for 6 months +/-) to contribute to the company's growing Industrial Manufacturing/Food and Personal Care practice in the mid-Atlantic and Southeast region. Position could be remote after an on-boarding period but is preferred to be local to one of our 2 regional offices (Chattanooga, TN or Richmond VA). The business is currently comprised of heavy industrial retrofit development projects in manufacturing, food, and personal care industries.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

This position is multidimensional in nature and requires elements of project management and client relationship building. Strong leadership and communication skills are necessary to successfully execute projects for existing clients while growing Merrick's client base and managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams

  • Oversee project planning, technical leadership, quality control, and client satisfaction.
  • Manage project teams with multi-discipline engineering discipline leads.
  • Master and implement industry best practices from PMI, CII and AACE.
  • Oversee earned value measurement, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Inform engineering discipline leads of resource requirements.
  • Travel to client sites several times per month for design meetings and developing new work.
  • Contribute to business development and meeting with clients to develop scopes of work.
  • Contribute to corporate and business unit strategic planning efforts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in project management for A-E firms, including managing budgeted and scheduled design efforts, and demonstrate skills in developing multi-discipline teams.
  • Must be willing to work in a design team environment, including directing the work of engineers and designers, and delegating work as required.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience of project execution in the industrial manufacturing sector.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices including front end planning and Value Improvement Processes (VIP).
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering strongly preferred.
  • Professional Engineering License (preferred).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification (preferred).
