About Department 472 - Reactor Plant Planning Yard The Reactor Plant Planning Yard (RPPY) provides Engineering, Design, and Logistics life cycle support to all fleet submarines, the Moored Training Ships, and the S8G Prototype. The organization maintains technical expertise for nuclear and non-nuclear propulsion plant systems and equipment. Our mission is to provide the US Navy five-star support that increases submarine Operational Availability and Capability. Role Overview As a D472 Senior Test Engineer, you will support the Navy Maintenance and Material Management (3M) Program and contribute to the development, engineering, and coordination of the S8G Prototype specific Class Maintenance Plan (CMP). In this role, you will serve as the 3M/Periodic Maintenance Requirement (PMR) Coordinator, working with the S8G Prototype Maintenance Staff to provide 3M System program administration duties including:
The position is located at the Naval Propulsion Training Unit at the Kesselring Site in West Milton, NY.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of US Navy experience
- Must hold or be able to hold a DoD Secret Security Clearance and security access to the DOE Kesselring Site facility
Preferred
- Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or higher
- Experience working in a private or Naval Shipyard
- Experience as a Nuclear Leading Chief Petty Officer
- Experience as a Submarine Engineering Department Master Chief
- Experience as an instructor at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command or at a Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit
- Squadron Engineering experience
- Experience as a Navy 3M Coordinator or knowledgeable of the Navy's 3M Preventive Maintenance Program
- Experience with US Submarine configuration management processes
- Experience in planned maintenance availability planning
- Experience with the Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) functionality
Skills
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Ability to troubleshoot
- Capable of working with multiple internal and external organizations
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail and accuracy in a schedule driven multi-tasking environment
- Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office computer software applications and familiarity with computer network operations associated with the Naval Nuclear Power Program (e.g., Web ATIS, EBS)
- Must be able to understand drawings and other technical documents including technical manuals and maintenance standards
