About the Job

Location: University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday, between 2:00PM-6PM and Weekend Hours: between 10:00AM-2:00PM. Total hours not to exceed 14 hours per week, specific scheduling may vary based on availability and operational needs.

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum seeks a casual Information Technology Support Technician to join our Information Technology department. This position helps create accessible
and engaging environments across the Arboretum by delivering reliable, responsive technology solutions that support staff, guest experiences, and public programming. From onboarding new
employees to troubleshooting technical challenges and enhancing experiences, the Technician plays a key role in ensuring great technology service with a focus on customer care.
This position is located at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska, MN. This position is primarily onsite at the Arboretum's Chaska Campus. Hybrid options may be
considered based on responsibilities, seasonality, and team needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Computer and Audio/Visual Equipment Support (50%)
* Monitor and respond to IT service requests via the help desk system, escalating as needed to minimize disruption.
* Provide ad-hoc training, coaching and documentation to end users, enhancing digital confidence and efficiency.
* Support Audio/Visual (A/V) setup and troubleshooting for events, meetings, and public programs, ensuring technical delivery to teams.

Computer Lifecycle Management (25%)
* Configure and deploy workstations, software, and peripherals aligned with Arboretum IT standards.
* Maintain and track hardware inventory to ensure accuracy and readiness.

Documentation and Other Duties as Assigned (25%)
* Create and/or maintain standard operating procedures, troubleshooting documentation, and knowledge base entries to support technical continuity.
* Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
* BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
* Experience installing and supporting computers and laptops.
* Experience and proficiency with Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Zoom Video Conferencing.
* Experience supporting mobile devices.
* Experience with printers and the ability to assess, document and escalate IT issues with mechanical devices.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with focus on customer service and technical patience.
* Ability to be flexible, responsive, and work independently with minimal supervision.
* Ability to lift 25 lbs and up to 40 lbs occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience troubleshooting Audio/Visual (A/V) system issues and providing support to A/V technology during meetings and for public displays or general areas.
* Experience with Team Dynamix (TDX), Asana or similar ticket management systems.
* Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
* Familiarity with Data Security practices, PCI, and associated technologies.
* Experience working in mission driven, service oriented environments or cultural institutions.
* IT certifications and/or Project Management background
* Demonstrated commitment to advancing inclusive excellence by fostering a respectful, welcoming workplace and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

The University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is located west of
Minneapolis/St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria. As a member of the American Public Garden Association and an accredited museum

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $25.39 - $26.50; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
