HDR is currently in need of a Dams, Levees, and Civil Works Structural Lead for Southern California. This Structural Lead will fill a strategic role responsible for leading and managing structural analysis of complex structures within HDR's growing dam, levee, and civil works program. The successful candidate will have a background in dam safety, risk assessment focused on structural modeling (both linear and non-linear response), design and rehabilitation of existing concrete or steel structures and a track record in applying structural engineering analyses to informed design of hydraulic structures. As the Structural Lead, the individual will also provide management and mentoring to their hand-picked team of supporting structural engineers. Structural design analysis and technical project execution responsibilities will include project design development including risk informed design, potential failure mode analysis, planning studies and evaluations, and preparation of final design analysis. Projects may include various aspects of dam, spillway, outlet works, and other critical structures subject to hydraulic and earthquake forces. Position will support project delivery activities through delivery of high-quality services and technological development. Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science or higher in Engineering (Civil or Structural)/or equivalent level of experience
- Previous experience with State Dam Safety, US Bureau of Reclamation, US Army Corps of Engineers and/or FERC regulated projects is preferred.
- 15 years of progressive experience in dam safety and engineering projects
- Professional Engineering license. California P.E. is preferred. Multiple state registrations will be encouraged
- Proficient knowledge of dam safety engineering and risk assessment tools and techniques
- Experience with structural engineering software and static and dynamic analyses for concrete dams and hydraulic structures including SAP2000, EAGD-SLIDE, Plaxis and LSDYNA #LI-JF1
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 5 years related experience
- Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
