GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under the general supervision of the Principal or designated Supervisor, develops and implements lessons for students in accordance with the Federal and State law and district guidelines. Aids in the efficient operation of the school or department by coordinating and communicating with Administration, other instructional and support staff, parents and students. The incumbent prioritizes tasks and performs such independently with periodic supervision or review. Performs related work as required.

Individual(s) assigned to this classification must report to work per their assigned schedules.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft innovative student-centered learning based on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
  • Deliver engaging curriculum while creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is aligned with the system-wide initiative for STEM education.
  • Employ a variety of creative instructional techniques that incorporate technology and enhance STEM content.
  • Ability to learn, teach and train others in the use of technology to support instruction.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, and projects.
  • Assess student learning in a variety of ways while also monitoring and adjusting instructional strategies that maximize student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate student discussions and use of questioning techniques to guide students in their projects.
  • Ability to teach students to problem solve, to work collaboratively and to think logically and creatively.
  • Display flexibility in responding to new situations and expectations and show a willingness to implement suggestions for improvement.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and individually while working toward increase STEM capacity in all students.
  • Understanding of the engineering design process and how it can be leveraged to engage students in projects which are interdisciplinary in nature.
  • An understanding of vertical alignment of curriculum and the ability to follow and provide feedback on developed curriculum maps.
  • Knowledge and understanding of project-based learning.
  • A growth mindset for constant improvement and the ability to take and respond to constructive feedback.
  • A passion for STEM education.
  • Leads students toward fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in a safe and cost-effective manner that supports the goal of the organization.
  • Plans individually or cooperatively a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
  • Assists in establishing department or grade level curriculum objectives and the development of the comprehensive plan for the implementation and evaluation of the objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnoses the learning strengths and weaknesses of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of specialists as deemed appropriate.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as deemed necessary.
  • Seeks out professional development opportunities and maintain professional licensure and certifications.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
  • Adheres to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida and meet all school and District policy requirements.
  • Recognizes overt indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate action based on school procedures and law.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate, preferably in a STEM field.
  • Bi-lingual skills are encouraged.

ADDITIONAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

* Google Certified Educator - Level 1 and/or 2.
* Experience (or familiarity) with tools such as, but not limited to 3D printing, VEX robotics, Tinker/Autocad, laser cutting, Arduino, Makey-Makey drones, CNC millwork,
Unity, CompTIA.
* Technology Student Association.
* Knowledge of basic programming languages - block programming, Python, Java Script, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard computer applications.
* Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
* Ability to work effectively under the stress of deadlines, volume of workload, and multitasking requirements.
* Ability to organize self, prioritize tasks and maintain a high level of energy in a fast-paced environment to provide efficient services.
