The Solution Architect is a hybrid remote position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

Essential Job Functions/Principal Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Design and architect scalable, secure, and reliable systems and applications.

  • Develop comprehensive solution architectures, including system integrations, data flows, reference architecture frameworks and application interfaces.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and proof of concepts for proposed solutions.

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance the company's technology stack.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams during the implementation phase.

  • Ensure solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture standards, patterns and best practices. Participate in the development of project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget considerations.

  • Conduct regular reviews of existing systems to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for all solutions, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and user guides.

  • Collaborate with IT security teams to ensure all solutions meet security and compliance requirements.

  • Work closely with the enterprise architecture team to ensure that solution architecture aligns with McLane's overarching architectural principles, guidelines and goals.

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in technology to continuously improve solution designs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

  • Five or more years of experience in a Solutions Architect role or similar position.

  • Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of current technology trends, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the

  • ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing complex IT solutions.

  • Strong understanding of cloud computing, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Proficiency in system integration, data integration, and application development.

  • Excellent knowledge of software development life cycles (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical

  • and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with microservices architecture, APIs, and web services.

  • Familiarity with database management systems, both SQL and NoSQL.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
