SUPERVISOR, FACILITIES - 2ND SHIFT

The Supervisor, Facilities, will assist in designing, building, activating, and maintaining our Cape Canaveral launch site. This position will help to ensure that we keep facility maintenance costs low, vendors competitive and efficient, and find better ways to enhance our image for customers, visitors, and VIPs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead, coordinate, and supervise the team responsible for facilities operations at the SpaceX Cape Canaveral launch facilities.
  • Ensure zero unplanned interruptions in services to the employees and customers at the launch facilities consisting of LC-40 & LC-39A launch pads, falcon landing center, payload processing facilities, launch control centers, data centers, and office buildings.
  • Supervise multiple trades and contractors to coordinate and execute the maintenance, repair, and installation of all launch and mission support-related buildings, HVAC equipment, facility electrical systems, fire protection, water and plumbing infrastructure, corrosion control, and grounds.
  • Develop cost improvement plans and energy reduction programs for overall site sustainability.
  • Supervise and direct all construction projects performed at the facility to ensure that the work is completed to SpaceX standards with minimal interruption to launch operations.
  • Oversee facilities renovation projects, including all mechanical, structural, HVAC, electrical, and water systems, to ensure vendors meet SpaceX, Air Force, and NASA standards while delivering promised services, materials, and craftsmanship.
  • Ensure all preventive and predictive maintenance is completed on vital launch support equipment such as emergency generators, UPS systems, electrical power distribution centers, and HVAC equipment.
  • Provide on-call 24/7 support, including critical launch-related activities.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team or facilities-related projects and providing hands-on mechanical and/or electrical support.


PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:



  • 2+ years of experience with building management and automated facilities monitoring systems and processes, including HVAC systems, fluid plumbing systems, high-power electrical systems, telecommunications infrastructure, fire suppression systems, generators, above and underground fuel storage systems, and other facility and grounds requirements.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing maintenance management methodologies such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).
  • Expertise in eliminating failures through preventive maintenance and root cause analysis.
  • Must be organized and self-driven, capable of working independently with little direction.
  • Experience working with military and government agencies.
  • Demonstrate innovative and futuristic thinking to drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently and effectively manage projects in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be willing to work weekends and non-standard work-week hours while mainly overseeing 2nd shift operations (6:00pm - 6:00am).
  • Must be comfortable working in a high-stress environment, balancing several projects at any given time, and have the flexibility to adjust to abrupt changes in strategic direction.
  • Ability to pass Cape Canaveral Air Force Base background check.
  • Ability to provide 214/7 on-call support in emergencies.
