The expected hiring range for this position is:

$86,900.00-$123,567.00.

About the Role:
Fermilab is looking for an Electrical Coordinator to oversees subcontractors, planning, and quality control processes through different work disciplines including preliminary job site discussions through to final acceptance inspections for the Accelerator Directorate. You will serve as a liaison to various Laboratory groups affected by construction projects to ensure that they are informed of construction and operational schedules, and that schedules are not conflicting.

What your day-to-day as an Electrical Coordinator at Fermilab will look like:

  • Creating and executing different facets of work including package submissions, work authorizations, overseeing work execution, verifying subcontractor charges for work segments completed, payment approval requests, and resolves accounting concerns.
  • Reviewing plans and specifications, and recommending revisions where appropriate, prior to invitations for bids.
  • Serving as a Fermilab Task Manager and Construction Coordinator (TM/CC), planning and supervising work for subcontractor workers for various work disciplines such as pipefitting, electrical, general construction, excavation, and HVAC.
  • Overseeing subcontractors' planning and quality control processes, including preliminary job site discussions, hazard analysis assessments for the scope of work and final acceptance inspections.
  • Obtaining or arranging for procurement of associated material and prepare cost estimates and renew existing or new construction and service subcontracts.
  • Verifying subcontractor charges for work segments completed, approves payment requests, and the verification of progress payment invoices, and final acceptance inspections.
  • Inspecting construction work in progress to ensure that materials, equipment, work standards, schedules, safety, environmental protection, and quality requirements conform to contract specifications, applicable construction codes, ES&H Plans, applicable OSHA Standards, and hazard analyses.
  • Reviewing variations from the plans and specifications requested by the subcontractor and seeks authorization for such variations or refers them to supervision when changes may substantially affect project design, engineering specifications, or cost.
  • Coordinating construction activities with ongoing Laboratory operations including mobilization, set up of construction equipment and processes, utility service interruptions, traffic control, and use of Laboratory assets.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Always abide by and be responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • Associate degree or equivalent in related field
  • a minimum of 8+ years of heavy industrial/commercial experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field with a minimum of 3+ years of heavy industrial/commercial.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Experience in overseeing and managing heavy industrial/commercial construction equipment.
  • Working knowledge of construction disciplines, including excavations, conventional construction, electrical, mechanical, and building automation is desired.

  • Onsite: This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Batavia office.
