Overview

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office located in Danville, VA; Charlotte, NC; or Raleigh, NC.

The Senior Manager, Syndicated Loan Operations oversees loan servicing within Commercial Loan Operations. Manages a team of Loan Administrators and the daily workflow of loan documentation, processing, and servicing for syndicated loan participation transactions. Monitors customer borrowings, payments, and rate setting activities. Reviews and approves deal amendment transactions. Assists team with servicing questions and complex transaction processing. Develops technical standards and operational processes that maximize efficiencies while reducing cost. Builds collaborative partnerships with both internal and external parties to facilitate operations. Ensures the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of production results in order to meet loan market demand and client servicing goals.


Responsibilities

  • Operations Oversight - Delegates appropriate oversight, responsibility, and authority to a supervisory team. Ensures that loan production activities are timely, accurate, and efficient while maintaining high client service standards. Leads analysis and reporting on loan processes to identify areas of improvement. Develops and implements departmental system and process improvements that cut costs, mitigate risk, and safeguard the Bank's assets. Performs necessary testing and creates business cases during the development of new business solutions. Responsible for financial management and operational budgeting throughout the fiscal year.
  • Managerial Functions - Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and department goals. Makes appropriate changes to team policies, procedures, and efficiencies in order to meet objectives. Manages the coaching, performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Maximizes department achievements by providing professional development.
  • Collaboration - Supports management and downstream partners with various inquiries, projects, system upgrade testing, regulatory reporting and audits. Forms strong partnerships with other departments, associates, and third party vendors to facilitate daily operations and improve service standards. Collaborates on the design and implementation of new products or processes. Coordinates necessary changes for regulatory compliance across operations teams and systems.
  • Policy Resource - Maintains a strong knowledge of lending-related laws and regulations as well as current Bank policies to ensure that all activities are operationally compliant. Monitors administration of all loans in accordance with the terms of governing documents, relevant legislation and company policy. Provides guidance and support on changing regulations, policies, and other operational issues. Serves as an expert resource on operations policies, procedures, and systems. Develops an understanding of each department's procedures in order to serve as a backup manager.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Lending or Loan Operations, including supervisory OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Lending or Loan Operations, including supervisory

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of loan practices, operations, systems, and regulations
  • Ability to understand concepts and new ideas quickly

Preferred Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in syndicated loan operations
  • 3+ years of experience managing a syndicated loan operations servicing team
  • Current experience with Loan IQ
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting commercial credit agreements
  • Experience with ClearPar, Syndtrak and Intralinks
  • Loan operations experience within a large financial institution
  • Ability and desire to lead through change
  • Proven ability to coach and motivate a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability and desire to build partnerships
