Job Overview:

Community Medical Center is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our expanding psychiatric team. The practitioner will provide consultation-liaison psychiatric services to adult patients admitted to the medical and surgical floors. This role focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and managing psychiatric conditions in medically ill patients, working collaboratively with hospitalists, surgeons, nursing staff, and the broader care team to ensure comprehensive, integrated patient care.

    Qualifications

    Education & Licensure

    • Masters or Doctorate degree in Nursing with a concentration in Psychiatric-Mental Health.
    • Current PMHNP certification
    • RN License
    • Valid New Jersey Advanced Practice Nurse license with prescriptive authority.
    • DEA and CDS registration

    Experience

    • Prior inpatient psychiatric or consultation-liaison experience strongly preferred, but not required.
    • Familiarity with managing complex psychiatric conditions in medically ill patients is an advantage.

    Essential Functions:

    Clinical Duties

    • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations on patients admitted to medical and surgical units.
    • Provide timely consultation-liaison services upon request from attending physicians.
    • Develop individualized treatment plans, including psychopharmacologic interventions and supportive psychotherapy when appropriate.
    • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to address the interplay between psychiatric and medical conditions.
    • Monitor patients clinical progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
    • Provide psychiatric input for discharge planning and aftercare coordination.

    Documentation & Compliance

    • Complete thorough, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and federal guidelines.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to optimizing patient care standards.

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Serve as a consultant and resource for physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff regarding psychiatric presentations and treatment approaches.
    • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences as needed.
    • Provide education to hospital staff on recognition and management of common psychiatric conditions.
