This Position reports to:

Department Manager of Power Electronics

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to set up and execute routine tests for different products in accordance with standard testing methodologies and requirements. Each day, you will perform your tasks or activities using skills and techniques as well as a practical understanding of concepts used in the field of technology. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring proper documentation of the test results.

The work model for the role is: onsite. #LI-onsite

This role is contributing to the US Corporate Research Center in Raleigh, NC.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Supporting in the planning and implementation of test plans.

  • Coordinating maintenance activities related to the equipment and tools used in the laboratory.

  • Identifying and suggesting solutions related to product non-conformities.

  • Assisting external certification inspectors during testing activities for ABB or external customer products.

Qualifications for the role

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with 2 years' experience in the electrical technical field

  • Strong willingness to learn technical content in a multi-faceted research environment

  • Ability to efficiently manage time and coordinate priorities across multiple projects

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

  • Ability to diagnose and repair machinery safely and proficiently

  • Ability to follow maintenance schedules on various equipment

  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations is preferred, with an emphasis on electrical safety.

  • Practical testing experience with electrical testing equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, electronics power supplies, source meters, etc.

  • Candidates must already have work authorization allowing them to work for ABB in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree with 5 years' experience in the electrical technical field

  • Experience with electrical equipment switching, Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Switchgear and Breakers

  • Experience with Medium Voltage terminations and connections

  • Experience with programming automation devices, such as PLCs, SIL PLCs, National Instrument data acquisition (DAQ) devices, thermocouples DAQs, etc.

  • Practical workshop experience with common tools such as lathe, mill, CAD, etc.
