Position Summary:

The Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager plays a critical leadership role in driving manufacturing excellence across the organization. Operating from the corporate office, this position provides senior-level guidance on tooling, manufacturing, and operational processes, supports strategic initiatives, and partners with plant teams to ensure successful day-to-day operations, program launches and continuous improvement across all areas of the business. This would be a global position.


Location: This position offers flexibility to be based out of Auburn Hills, MI. or Dickson, TN. Up to 75% travel to plant locations will be required.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Corporate Leadership & Strategy: Provide senior-level input on tooling and manufacturing strategies, standards, and practices. Influence corporate direction through data-driven recommendations and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Plant Support & Travel: Travel regularly (up to 75%) to plant locations to support tooling and manufacturing engineering teams, troubleshoot issues, and ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Program Launch Support: Lead or support manufacturing engineering activities for new program launches, ensuring readiness, process capability, and tooling performance across sites.
  • Tooling Oversight: Provide technical leadership and oversight on tooling design, sourcing, and implementation. Collaborate with tooling engineers and managers to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices across plants to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. Facilitate knowledge sharing and benchmarking.
  • Training & Development: Support the development and deployment of training programs for manufacturing engineering and tooling personnel. Mentor engineers and promote technical growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, quality, and program management teams to ensure manufacturing engineering initiatives support broader business goals.


Qualifications:


Licensed Tool & Die Maker (USA or CND).


  • Strong understanding of metal manufacturing process, stamping, welding, mechanical fastening.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, including tooling and process development.
  • Proven leadership experience in a multi-site or corporate role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, tooling technologies, and launch processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%.


Preferred Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD, simulation tools, and manufacturing analytics platforms.
  • Hot Stamp experience would be an asset.
