POSITION SUMMARY:



  • The Sales & Use Tax Analyst reports to the Tax Manager
  • Located in Mansfield, MA
  • Full-Time
  • Hybrid



The Sales & Use Tax Analyst will report to the Tax Manager and will interact regularly with business unit leadership and finance teams to achieve objectives. This role will support multi-state sales and use tax compliance for multiple divisions in a decentralized organization. This position will drive the development of processes and procedures to improve efficiency and ensure compliance. The Sales & Use Tax Analyst will monitor changes in tax regulations and provide research-based updates for changes needed to comply with new and updated laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of tax regulations and accounting principles, effective research skills, a compliance mindset and be a champion of continuous improvement to successfully achieve objectives.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Support sales tax compliance across all divisions.
  • Assist in the process of implementing sales tax automation.
  • Assist all divisions in improving their sales tax process and procedures.
  • Act as the first line respondent to sales tax questions and problems raised by each division.
  • Provide education on sales tax law and the usage of the division's sales tax engine.
  • Trouble shoot invoices that are not taxing properly when personnel at the divisions are unable to.
  • Assist in implementation and maintenance of automated sales tax engines in the applicable divisions.
  • Perform multistate sales and use tax research.
  • Assist with, and facilitate sales and use tax audits.
  • Monitor nexus creating activities economic nexus thresholds for all divisions and register in new states when needed.
  • Provide support with various internal audits, special tax related projects, and divisional inquiries.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with accounting and operations personnel to further tax department's image and value added throughout the organization.
  • Support property tax filings as needed.
  • Perform any other duties needed to support the tax function.

  • Familiar with sales & use tax concepts, SaaS solutions (e.g., Avalara, Vertex).
  • Possesses high integrity and considers ethical standards in all actions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and identify trends.



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's degree in tax, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience working in sales & use tax capacity for an organization with multiple legal entities and locations.
  • Proficiency with current sales and use tax regulations and strong research skills to stay current and determine impact of changing tax regulations on the company's tax strategies.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications with advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Proficiency with large company ERP required.
  • Knowledge and experience with SaaS solutions for tax preparation and filing as well as sales & use tax compliance.
  • Experience with Avalara is a plus.

The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate's unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.


In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark's' benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
