Compensation / Benefits

  • $21.15-$34.55/hr based on previous work experience

Job Summary

Job Summary

  • Performs required daily account productivity, including accurate documentation and reporting of activity.
  • Uses appropriate analytic applications and support tools to abstract information for financial analysis to support in all areas of reimbursement, including trend analysis. Familiarity with CDM auditing and maintenance tools.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the Charge Description Master, clinical charging procedures, and related systems for the production of a bill/claim.
  • Works as a team member with other healers in Centralized Charging to ensure charge review assessments are done in a timely manner and is able to report on activities to team lead on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma, Two year degree in coding, Healthcare billing, or nursing.
  • Preferred: Advanced coding certification (Certified Coding Specialists (CCS - Issued by American Health Information Mgmt. Assoc - AHIMA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC - Issued by American Academy of Professional Coders AAPC), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT - Issued by AHIMA), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA - Issued by AHIMA.)

Experience

  • A minimum of two years of medical auditing, coding, and/or related experience, with demonstrated proficiency in ICD-9, CPT-4, HCPCS, Level II, and Revenue Code assignments required.
  • Experience in Medicare, Medicaid, third-party billing, and compliance and reimbursement regulations required.
  • Experience with electronic billing process for medical claims required.
  • Two years of experience in Chargemaster Management (CDM) preferred.

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

Licensure/Certification

  • Advanced coding certification (Certified Coding Specialists (CCS - Issued by American Health Information Mgmt. Assoc - AHIMA, CPC, CPC-H, RHIT, or RHIA) preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excel/MS Word skills in word processing and spreadsheets
