Position Summary

The Director, Administration oversees all academic, administrative and fiscal operations for the Computer Science department. In partnership with the Chair, the Director will lead the strategic planning, financial management, and operational execution across a department that supports approximately 4,000 students and over 100 faculty. The Director leads a team of approximately 15 administrators and staff, manages complex multimillion-dollar budgets, and manages all academic affairs, including course scheduling and hiring for classroom support roles, such as recitation leaders and graders/tutors.



Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree and

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Business or related field.

Required Experience:
10+ years of increasingly responsible professional level experience in program development including managing operations, budget administration and staff supervision or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
Experience managing an academic department at a large college or university. Superior interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build strong relationships and manage expectations across all levels of an organization. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver clear and concise presentations. High degree of diplomacy and discretion, capable of navigating intricate organizational dynamics and maintaining confidentiality regarding strategic initiatives. Resilience and tenacity.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent problem solving and communication skills. Ability to develop, implement and communicate policies and procedures to a diverse population. Working knowledge of standard office software, database and budget systems.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $140,000.00 to USD $170,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
