In the absence and/or with the collaboration of management at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, its off-sites, and Westerly Hospital, the Revenue Cycle Registration Coordinator provides leadership, acts as the primary contact for resolving staff scheduling issues, and coordinates classroom and in the field (re)training and competency assessment/sign-off for Patient Access staff. Audits staff productivity and work quality based upon key performance indicators and departmental procedures. Participates in on call rotation and oversees departmental programs as assigned such as Career Apparel and adherence to Career Ladder criteria.

Responsibilities
- 1. Acts as a leader, mentor, coach and role model for procedural issues, troubleshooting complex problems, and balancing exceptional customer service with the financial needs of the Hospital.
- 2. Works independently, assumes in-charge responsibility and supports the Manager in daily operations and decisions concerning staffing and workflow.
- 3. Develops/updates orientation and preceptor checklists and competency assessment tools for staff using various software applications.
- 4. Coordinates classroom training for new or existing staff and oversees/provides in the field (cross)training. Assesses new hire readiness for work, making recommendations to management before the employee's probationary period ends.
- 5. Audits staff productivity and work quality based upon key performance indicators and departmental procedures on a regular basis and provides frequent results and recommendations to management. Recommends plans for improvement based upon analysis of audits.
- 6. Maintains a strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements, third party payers, and the Epic system as well as all other systems utilized throughout the department. Proficiently performs all departmental duties including downtime procedures, and readily shares skills and knowledge gained as appropriate.
- 7. Accurately resolves account problems as directed in a timely manner and demonstrates root cause analysis skills to eliminate future problems.
- 8. Maintains a working knowledge of the Kronos system in order to process payroll when assigned by management. Provides timely feedback to management regarding attendance issues.
- 9. Participates in a rotating weekend and holiday "on-call" schedule with other Revenue Cycle leaders to coordinate/provide staffing and ensure smooth departmental operations.
- 10. Oversees ordering/invoicing for the Department's Career Apparel program and monitors staff adherence to Career Ladder criteria.
- 11. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
Qualifications
EDUCATION Associate Degree or enrolled in an Associate Degree program. EXPERIENCE Three (3) years experience in Access at YNHHS or related environment with strong customer service and third party insurance background. Experience in working independently to analyze trends, identify obstacles and propose and implement corrective measures. Previous training experience preferred. LICENSURE Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) through the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) required within 18 months of hire. Certified as an Epic Proficiency Super User within 2 years of hire. SPECIAL SKILLS Must be detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have excellent analytical skills to analyze trends, identify obstacles and propose/implement corrective measures. Must be able to prioritize and re-evaluate continuously based on ongoing requests and daily situations. Proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt to various programs/systems. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.
