Job Overview

The Director, Performance Management is a strategic and tactical partner to the VP of Learning and Development, playing a key role in shaping and managing the learning and development approach, setting the framework for skill development and professional growth for all levels of the Store's Organization to drive strategic business objectives. The Director of Stores Learning and Development is responsible for leading, creating, organizing and implementing all elements of a robust and multifaceted learning strategy. They will demonstrate strong consultative, facilitation, relationship building, course development, interpersonal and influence skills, and will be effective at quickly establishing credibility and developing working relationships with others across Bloomingdale's. They are responsible for: assessing needs to drive development initiative and cultural evolution, identifying and facilitating robust development solutions while actively searching creatively designing and implementing effective methods to educate and enhance performance.

The Director, Performance Management is part of the Central HR team and will partner with the Store & Central Senior Leadership, HR team and lead, develop and manage the Stores Learning and Development Managers.

Essential Functions

Talent Development



  • Design, develop, source, implement and maintain high quality leadership and selling and service training and development programs for executive and hourly store population.
  • Seek out and integrate technology advancements to improve and elevate talent development.
  • Cultivate strong partnership with Macys, ensuring alignment and BLM customization with all relevant projects.
  • Partner with Subject Matter Experts to design and implement training programs to drive employee performance both for new hires and ongoing talent development
  • Develop customized training content to support all roles and levels
  • Use appropriate tools and delivery methods to produce blended learning materials promoting learning through self-study, practice, performance support, socialization and knowledge-sharing
  • Develop assessments that measure learner outcomes including productivity.
  • Provide constructive, actionable feedback and coaching to business leadership to support ongoing development.


Onboarding



  • Develop New Hire Orientation and Selling and Service curriculum and delivery method that supports ability of Sales Professionals to deliver our customer experience expectations and key metrics.
  • Create Manager Coaching support vehicle and classes for skill transfer from classroom to floor to impact staff competence within first 90 days of new hire.
  • Develop and manage New Executive Onboarding strategy relevant to level and need.


Qualifications and Competencies



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years leading teams and enterprise wide initiatives.
  • Retail Learning & Development experience.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information clearly & concisely to all levels in the organization.
  • Exceptional facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills & business math competency.
  • Strong conceptual & creative thinker, multi-task, meets deadlines & prioritize.
  • Ability to develop multiple complex and detail oriented strategies and manage workload for self and team to deliver quality results on time.
  • Strong team player, able to effectively develop & maintain collaborative partnerships with all levels within the company.
  • Strong understanding of the retail business.
  • Demonstrated passion & commitment to Diversity & Inclusion, inviting diverse perspectives, fostering an inclusive training environment & supporting workforce diversity.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, agility, resilience and drive.
