Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a HVAC Mechanic - Facilities Engineering - Full Time, Evenings - Facility Mgt-Plant Operations - - Mo.
In this role, the successful candidate Ability to perform all tasks in the H.V.A.C. career field that improves the facilities environment of care for patients, employees and visitors at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. Performs any and all other duties as directed by Engineering Management/Leadership whether of an emergent nature or otherwise and assists other maintenance personnel as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Trouble-shoot and repair all mechanical problems.
- Perform maintenance to ensure most economical operation.
- Trace and eliminate electrical problems by wiring diagram and observation.
- Maintain records and order parts needed for repairs.
- Perform daily checks of units to ensure proper operation.
- Perform maintenance to ensure operation of water and air-cooled units.
- Trouble-shoot and repair all electrical problems, lines and control voltage.
- Research and order all parts needed for repair, upgrades and/or maintenance.
- Monitor and correct as necessary, quality of ice and water dispensed.
- Make repairs as needed to closed loop, (add gas, repair tubing, replace compressor).
- Performs maintenance to all parts of refrigerator as needed.
- Trouble-shoot electrical system for operation and service.
- Make adjustments as needed to closed loop (add gas, find and repair leaks, proper pressures).
- Instruct user in proper use and expectations of service for certain models.
- Keep records and stock levels of parts, placement and repairs for cost efficiency.
- Adjust and calibrate both electric and pneumatic controls.
- Order and research replacement controls.
- Able to trace and understand wiring diagrams of control circuits.
- Can explain uses and reasons for controls in all aspects of H.V.A.C.
- Follows designed guidelines in replacing controls.
- Perform maintenance on all coils used in H.V.A.C
- Perform repairs as needed to coils and surfaces of coils.
- Check for proper quantity and quality of air, water and steam flow through coil.
- Repair or replace associated controls and measuring devices to insure proper operation.
- Keep records on repairs and coil replacements for cost efficiency and stock levels.
- Perform maintenance on all H.V.A.C fans and motors.
- Insure alignment and wear of all belt driven units is within prescribed guidelines.
- Insure rotation and amperage draw on motors is correct.
- Order and keep proper stock levels of all belts, pulleys and motors.
- Replace motors and/or controls as needed.
- Insure proper and safe operation of all motors and belts on H.V.A.C equipment.
- Maintains a safe work environment in and out of department by cleaning up area when jobs are complete.
- Performs minor electrical.
- Performs minor plumbing.
- Performs minor equipment repair.
- Responds to service calls and completes paper work upon job completion.
- Assembles furniture and equipment following manufacturer instruction manuals as required.
- Maintains work equipment by repairing/reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately when discovered.
- Repairs patient related equipment including but not limited to beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, IV poles, etc.
- Performs any and all duties as directed by engineering management whether of an emergent nature or otherwise and assists other maintenance personnel as needed.
- Follow safe operation guidelines of all equipment used for grounds maintenance (snow blowers, tractors w/plow, grass cutting equipment, etc.).
- Maintains cleanliness, safety and ascetic qualities of all hospital grounds and building (trash removal and cleaning of break areas, walkways and parking lots).
- Informs supervisory staff of problems with equipment to ensure repair or replacement of equipment is expedited before conditions require it to be used again.
- Assists the Engineering Department with the process of snow/ice removal when necessary.
- Complete daily time report at the end of each shift.
- Complete purchase orders, maintain records of material ordered, received and returned.
- Thoroughly describes actions taken/or additional actions needed on each work order or PM.
- Maintains and documents required preventive maintenance testing results and ensures and documents that corrective actions for any deficiencies found during testing are complete.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalency with 2-3 years related work experience required
Ability to stand/walk for an entire 7.5 hour shift.
Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings and knowledge of heating, ventilation and refrigeration principles at a level normally acquired through completion of vocational training which can be obtained in high school.
Requires approximately two to three years related work experience in order to fully understand installation and repair of refrigeration equipment.
Requires analytical ability necessary to determine cause of and find solutions to refrigeration equipment malfunctions.
Ability to lift heavy objects and material.
Ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail.
BLS certification, de-escalation and first aid training.

The salary range for the role is $80,433.60 - $80,433.60 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
