Job Description

Job Summary:



The Engineering Failure Analysis Lab is seeking an experienced FA lab technician to help in failure analysis of PCB assemblies and similar electrical components. The FA Lab Technician is responsible for conducting detailed investigations on failed components or products and utilizing specialized equipment and techniques to identify the root cause of malfunctions. This role will interface with Process Engineers and reports directly to the FA Engineering Manager and may have to provide additional support to engineers in other departments when needed.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Prepping specimens for cross sectional analysis.
  • Performing cross sections of test specimens.
  • Assisting Engineering in setting up and executing Designs of Experiments (DOE).
  • Assisting Engineering with Material Characterizations.
  • Operating equipment utilized by the Failure Analysis Lab, such as: Cross sectional polishers, SEM, microscopes, X-ray, Rheology, DSC.


Required Qualifications:



  • Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in an Engineering lab environment
  • Understanding of schematics; use schematic and PCB layout viewers to locate components and Solder joint locations.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and equipment as needed.
  • Plan, organize and maintain the Lab facilities for optimal efficiency. Create new processes when necessary.
  • Strong report writing skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally amongst teams.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, such as Excel & Word.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Associate's Degree in Chemical, Materials and/or Mechanical Engineering is strongly preferred.
