Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is looking for an Engineering Intern or Co-Op to join our team in Remote/Dayton, OH. Responsibilities: We're seeking a highly motivated engineering student for an internship position in our Dayton, OH office. The intern will work on concurrent projects involving the use of large language models for process enhancement. Specifically, they will support the Large Language Model - Digital Assistant (LLM-DA) IRAD project through the end of 2025 where the technical tasking will include: supporting the Large Language Model - Digital Assistant (LLM-DA) IRAD project by assisting in the ingestion and preprocessing of large datasets, developing and deploying vector databases, integrating retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and contributing to the design, testing, and documentation of a LLM application for proposal development. This intern will also support the Engineering Department, on initiatives to leverage similar large language model capabilities to support process improvements. Qualifications: Upper-level (junior or senior) student in Engineering, Computer Science, or a Cyber-related degree field GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale Past experience with Large Language Models, including code-development and applications Comfortable supporting multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic environment Interested to leverage the capabilities of their university to support current & future work Self-motivated and able to work independently with help from experienced team members Must possess communication skills for interacting with other engineers/analysts and customers Desired Skills* Large Language Models Experience in programming with Python, MATLAB, C++ Some experience with the design and development of Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) Knowledge of code versioning tools (Git) Clearance:Ability to obtain/maintain a US government security clearance.
