Here's what you'd do:

  • The CMM Operator/Programmer is responsible for the management and operation of CMM measuring instruments and programs.
  • This includes ensuring procedures are followed, resolving quality related issues, periodic inspection and calibration of measuring instruments to ensure measurement reliability, generation of reports, tracking of data, and recommendation of process improvements

  • You will be responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining Zeiss coordinate measuring machines (CMM) systems to ensure that products meet the highest standards of quality and precision.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate measurement and reporting
  • Perform precise dimensional inspections and analyze measurement data to ensure compliance with engineering specifications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CMM programs, fixturing and measuring instruments to maintain smooth operational performance
  • Works closely with engineering and production teams during product validation process and to solve quality problems in the manufacturing process.
  • Devise strategies for system enhancements which assure long range integrity and cost effectiveness of the measurement system.
  • The role primarily supports operations within the United States, with occasional collaboration across regional facilities depending on project needs
  • Internal factors which would impact this role:

o Production schedules and lead times.

o Engineering changes and product development cycles.

  • External factors which would impact this role

o Customer quality requirements and audits.

o Regulatory standards (ISO9001).

  • High priority setting to respond quickly to urgent inspection requests or quality issues
  • Frequent coordination mindset, aligning daily activities with production, engineering, and QA teams
  • Contribution to production efficiency and reduction in scrap and non-conforming parts.
  • Individual contributor position; no direct reports, but extensive team interaction
  • Monitor and report on quality-related key performance indicators (KPIs) including scrap and rework

Pay: $50,800 - $63,500/year

Job Requirements

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Zeiss Calypso CMM.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with programming and operating in a 3D Measuring Environment
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in precision machining (aerospace defense) industry environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of CMMs and quality control procedures
  • Experience with MSA and Gauge R&R activities.
  • Good communication skills to interpret engineering drawings and relay inspection results to cross functional teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with machinists, production supervisors, and quality engineers.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with external auditors or customers during quality reviews.
  • Zeiss Calypso experience
  • Able to communicate in basic English
  • Possess diverse knowledge and experience in CMM operation capabilities and manual measuring instruments
  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation (Drawing, specifications)
  • Possess basic knowledge of product defect analysis and process management
  • Basic Knowledge Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present data effectively
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Team working skills
  • Moderate planning skills to schedule inspections around shifting production priorities
  • Exceptional attention to detail, delivering accurate results under tight deadlines
