The Process Specialist is responsible for safely diagnosing and remedying safety, quality, production, and equipment problems as expeditiously as possible without compromising safety or quality. Must interact with other Greenville Avient Protective Materials associates in production, maintenance, technical services, and safety areas. This position must promote values of efficiency, productivity, quality, and teamwork within the manufacturing organization. This position serves as the first line escalation point for complex technical process issues throughout all facets of the manufacturing area. They will be the process subject matter expert. This will involve working closely with the area Process Engineers, Operations and other support resources and groups.
Ensures that all work is conducted in a safe and effective manner and all applicable procedures and policies are followed by monitoring and providing the expected number of safety observations per month. Monitors safety and quality reports and take immediate action, as a daily first priority, to correct any safety and quality situations to ensure compliance with established parameters. Plans the detailed lockout and tag-out program for each major maintenance STOP and ensures that this is done properly. Abides by Avient Protective Materials procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of: employee security agreements; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of Avient Protective Materials intellectual property limited to a "need to know" only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, cameras, computers or APM property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of APM property and keys. Troubleshoots using various tools and PC based programs. Must use the Microsoft Excel program to provide information regarding such. Write reports on findings. Uses this information to drive the process back to stability and to make improvements. Predict potential problems as a result of using these tools. Participates and/or leads RCAs as needed. Analyzes data from all production processes.) Monitors performance of all production lines as well as utilities, ensure the monthly production targets achieved. Take immediate action, in conjunction with other departments such as Engineering, Maintenance and other production personnel, to correct any deficiencies and bring the process back in line with established parameters. This includes, but is not limited to, equipment repairs, recipe changes, procedural updates, and temporary change controls. Review quality and performance data daily to determine where immediate efforts are needed. Understands, at an advanced level, the cause and effect relationship between process parameters and raw materials. Uses this to help Process Engineering refine recipes/parameters. Controls/manages all product recipes for the manufacturing team. Includes communicating learnings from previous runs, creating pre-run packages, and continuously updates all recipes are the line when needed. Proficient in the operation of all production and monitoring equipment and systems. Coordinates and helps determine best practices for the area, updates area documentation, and conducts training for technicians. Communicate to shift supervision/management any new developments related to production and/or compliance changes, results from troubleshooting efforts, best practices, and repairs to ensure continuity across all shifts. Participates as Personal Protection subject matter expert in all RCA's, FMEA's, HAZOPS, MSRA's, or any other area assessments. Supports Project and Process Engineering Ready to Operate (RTO) activities. Facilitates teamwork and resources for the team to fulfill production demands as well as encourage team members to understand corporate and departmental goals/objectives and needs by disseminating needed divisional, unit and corporate information to employees on a timely basis. May be required to plans the use of raw and intermediate materials for optimum quality and output. Reviews and updates schedules for production lines, including planning resources for production demands. Authors and approves SOP's. Assist supervisor with evaluating training needs and assist in conducting formalized training for technicians. Issues work notifications and coordinate repairs and PMs with maintenance for more complicated issues. Monitors whereabouts of visitors and location(s) of maintenance work. Serve as area administrator for the Permit to Work system. Responsible for all facets of the work permit process in the Personal Protection manufacturing area, including but not limited to permit generation, approval, tracking, and closure. Assists Engineering with trials. Makes minor recipe adjustments as needed. Works with Reliability Engineer to determine routine maintenance intervals, PM's, proper preventive and corrective techniques, and determine spare part for new and existing equipment. It is the responsibility of each employee to work in a safe and responsible manner in order to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace. Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements. Maintain annual training requirements on hazardous waste by reviewing non-hazardous and hazardous waste procedures and regulations. Specific job holders will complete more detailed training as well. Perform other duties as assigned.

Within the boundaries of our current procedures and recipes. Authorized to approve work permits per details included in site work permitting procedures. If so authorized, employee must maintain necessary refresher training to participate in these activities

Education and Experience
- BS/BA in related technical field with 1 year of manufacturing experience or AA/AS degree in a technical field with 2 years relevant experience or 3 years relevant experience.
Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures Knowledge of changeovers/cleaning/set-up, work instructions Knowledge of typical utility system operations associated with fiber manufacturing processes. Ability to perform mathematical computation; problem solving. Knowledge of performance standards. Effectively gain cooperation from others Basic technical skills and knowledge. Ability to use PC and production systems, programs and software Ability to maintain accurate records Ability to constantly produce at established production rates Ability to follow verbal or written directions Ability to read gauges, dials, meters and set controllers.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and/or hear. Occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250 pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with the exception of high noise areas. Proper personal safety equipment needs to be used while performing this job and that equipment is dictated by the plant safety guidelines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock, vibration, non-hazardous chemical agents and outside weather conditions. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
