The successful candidate:

Position Summary:
The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor is responsible for delivering and overseeing all respiratory care services, including ventilator management, EKGs, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function testing (PFT), and specialized procedures as directed by a pulmonologist. This role ensures the safe and effective use of respiratory equipment and supplies, while also performing clerical duties such as charting, data entry, charge input, and document filing.

The supervisor organizes and manages daily respiratory care operations, stays current with advancements in respiratory care, and shares relevant updates with hospital staff. This position also oversees respiratory therapy staff, manages 24-hour scheduling, maintains inventory, provides education, and collaborates closely with nursing leadership and the emergency department to ensure quality care and efficient patient flow.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program; current CPR certification

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in respiratory care

  • Licensure: Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Illinois

  • Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and effective communication

  • Software: Proficiency in EPIC and other electronic health record systems

  • Equipment: Experience with PFT systems, ventilators, and other respiratory devices
