The Outpatient Cellular Therapy & Malignant Hematology Manager provides leadership and direction for all outpatient operations within the malignant hematology and cellular therapy program. This role is responsible for the management of multidisciplinary outpatient staff, including nursing, clinical support, and coordination roles.
The Manager ensures high-quality, safe, and efficient care delivery for patients undergoing transplant, cellular therapies, and malignant hematology treatments. In collaboration with executive, operational, and physician leadership, this position is accountable for operational excellence, budget and resource management, regulatory compliance, program growth, and the strategic expansion of future outpatient service lines such as lymphoma, myeloma, outpatient CAR-T, and other innovative therapies.
The successful candidate:
- Provide operational leadership across outpatient clinic and infusion services, ensuring seamless patient flow and coordinated care delivery.
- Oversee staffing models through designated frontline leadership roles, supporting effective supervision and staff management.
- Partner with physicians, APPs, and administrative leaders to align operations with clinical priorities and patient access goals.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and succession planning for direct reports; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Manage staffing requirements, including scheduling and resource allocation to optimize department functionality.
- Represent outpatient services in organizational and interdisciplinary leadership forums and initiatives.
- Identifies and responds to service recovery needs as identified by patients and/or other people.
- Partner with department leadership to set goals, monitor key performance indicators, and implement process improvements.
- Ensure delivery of competent, compassionate care in outpatient infusion and clinic settings, including cellular therapy, post-transplant, leukemia, and other malignant hematology treatments.
- Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate various treatment modalities and continued care across the hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) and malignant hematology continuum of care; provides direction through the patient journey from initial diagnosis, treatment, recovery, maintenance, and clinical assessment of care needs.
- Works closely with the inpatient leader of stem cell transplant and malignant hematology to ensure seamless delivery of patient care; provides oversight in the coordination of care between inpatient, ambulatory care, outpatient clinic, and community physician offices across prevention, diagnosis, survivorship, palliative care, and end-of-life.
- Provides strategic direction and operational readiness for future outpatient service lines and program expansions (for example, lymphoma, myeloma, outpatient CAR-T).
- Support clinical leads and charge nurses in maintaining specialty competencies, regulatory readiness, and adherence to FACT standards.
- Serve as a clinical resource for escalated decision-making, complex care coordination needs, and complex patient situations.
Qualifications Your qualifications should include:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- 3 years Oncology experience and recent Cellular Therapy experience (Stem Cell Transplant and/or Immune Effector Cell), or as deemed qualified by Cellular Therapy Leadership
- Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License from a Compact State
- American Heart Association (AHA)-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), renewed every 2 years; new hires with non-AHA certification must obtain AHA within 30 days of hire.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Provider Card within 30 days of hire, renewed every 2 years.
