Overview

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a talented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in support of the Bureau of Reclamation's IT Enterprise System Administration. This role is critical in ensuring the security, availability, and performance of enterprise database environments that support mission-essential applications and infrastructure. As part of DecisionPoint's contract with the BOR, the DBA will be responsible for database installation, configuration, maintenance, backup and recovery, as well as performance monitoring and security compliance. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, and can adapt to evolving technology needs.

This position is fully remote.



Duties & Responsibilities

Database Management

    Install, configure, and maintain Oracle (12c, 19c), SQL Server (2012-2017), and MySQL databases.
  • Monitor and tune database/system performance to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
  • Support database client software installations and integrations.

Backup & Recovery

  • Implement and manage database backup and recovery solutions (RMAN, VEEAM).
  • Conduct regular recovery testing to validate system resilience.

Maintenance & Security

  • Apply database patches, upgrades, and system security updates in compliance with Federal standards and STIGs.
  • Monitor and maintain database security, access, and health using tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager and Splunk.
  • Identify, document, and resolve vulnerabilities and risks.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with development and hosting teams to deploy scalable and secure solutions.
  • Provide technical documentation, SOPs, system diagrams, and configuration records.
  • Support testing of in-house and COTS applications to ensure smooth deployment.

Compliance & Incident Response

  • Follow BOR and DOI security policies and procedures.
  • Report security incidents promptly and participate in risk assessments and mitigation activities.
  • Contribute to contingency planning, audits, and continuous process improvements.


Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience of greater depth and scope.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle (12c/19c), SQL Server (2012-2017), and MySQL.
  • Strong background in Linux (6.x+) and Windows Server (2012 R2+).
  • Proficiency in backup & recovery solutions (RMAN, VEEAM).
  • Scripting knowledge: bash, Perl, PowerShell, TSQL, PLSQL.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, Splunk, and CheckMK.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Availability for after-hours and on-call support when required.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for regional support needs.
