Acara Solution is looking for a Sr Advanced Safety Systems Engineer for Our client located in Canonsburg, PA.

Here's what you'd do:

  • As a Senior Advanced Safety Systems Engineer for the Torpedo Systems Group, you will be responsible for the identification, classification, and mitigation of safety hazards as part of the overall Systems Engineering (SE) process.
  • This includes requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, and test (verification), validation, and interface definition studies of system, subsystem, or system elements with little or no supervision.
  • Additionally, your focus will be on the personnel safety of those operating the system.
  • You will work with Program Management, technical leadership, and the customer to make critical decisions on architecture, design, and technology choices as they pertain to safety-critical solutioning.
  • Support the set-up, configuration, and documentation of hardware and software systems under test, including loading software onto multiple devices.
  • Support the design, development, and implementation of cost-effective procedures for testing and troubleshooting of components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and systems.
  • Support development of test plans, test procedures, requirements traceability, test reports, test flow, and test case design and implementation
  • Document testing issues and failures, and perform analysis of test results.
  • Support formal systems acceptance testing activities.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics with 8+ years of experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in designing and maintaining systems with safety-critical requirements
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree with 6 years of experience
  • Experience in the adoption of system safety practices as defined by MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, JOTP-51, MIL-HDBK-2155, T9070-AL-DPC-020/077-2 standards and handbooks.
  • Agile experience
  • Technical credibility, demonstrated through past experiences.
  • Experience in the preparation of cost and schedule estimates for design tasks.
  • Demonstrated system, hardware, and software integration experience.
  • Demonstrated technical excellence in engineering solutions to DoD customer requirements.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with experience in the art of negotiation and the ability to meet challenging customer requirements with win-win solutions.
  • Exquisite brokering skills, regularly achieving consensus among stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Collaborating effectively with others, along with building teams that excel through the client values.
  • Demonstrated strong strategic and architectural vision.
  • Excellent problem-solving and system-thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in complex programs with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, pushing technological boundaries, leading complex projects, and mentor teams.
  • Demonstrated technical excellence in systems engineering.
  • You are viewed as a technical lead on safety across the Torpedo business.
  • Demonstrated use and understanding of systems engineering strategies, principles, and measures.
  • Ability to present test strategies, plans, and results to internal and external customers and negotiate direction.
