Bagger

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the related to packing, stacking and maintaining bags and materials in an orderly manner

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Production

• Conduct pre-shift inspections and maintenance.
• Operate bagging machine and package minerals in appropriate bags.
• Sort, document, and label bags appropriately.
• Provide quality sampling as needed.
• Load trucks, vans, flatbeds and boxcars with bagged product; stacking in a manner to not cause the bags to fall during shipment.
• Direct and prepare loaded bags into correct position for loading.
• Certify completed required load and use seals as required.
• Perform minor maintenance repair and servicing to bagging machines.
• Perform clean up duties in the plant as required.
• Operate forklift safely and efficiently.
• Report any potential operational or safety problem to supervision.
• Perform all tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Back up other baggers as needed.

Backup

• To back up other baggers as needed.
• To back up any qualified team member as assigned by the supervisor.

Safety

• Attend scheduled safety meetings.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment and promote safety among co-workers.
• Participate in EHS insight program and attend and participate in all safety meetings.
• Comply with and enforce all company, local, state, and federal safety policies and procedures.

Other

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be capable of working any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week, if needed.
• Must be able to multitask with a strong sense of urgency to meet the customer needs.
• Must be able to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers.
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• Must possess the basic reading and math skills.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess basic computer skills on how to use MS Office products and SAP is a plus
• Strong record of attendance reliability.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
• Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
• Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
• Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a mining environment.
• The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles.
• The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
• Ability to consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

PREFFERED EDUCATION:

• Technical training or AA degree in technical related field is desired.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• One (1) to three (3) years minimum experience in heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience is highly preferred.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience operating heavy equipment.
