The roe provides direct patient care including evaluation and treatment as outlined by the guidelines of the New York State Occupational Therapy Practice Act and Hospital Policy. Provides daily clinical supervision to Senior Occupational Therapists, Star Occupational Therapists. COTA'8, Rehabilitation Aides and students. Embraces the team concept or the department and the customer service approach to patient care.
Essential Functions
- Provides direct patient care including evaluation, treatment, equipment assessment and documentation.
- Maintains own patient schedules and utilizes time efficiently.
- Maintains accurate patient records, statistical reports and other documentation related to patient care.
- Performs patient and family education and attends family meetings and educational sessions.
Participates in departmental performance improvement activities, program planning and equipment needs. - Attends departmental educational activities including in-services and continuing education courses and Interdisciplinary Conferences. Provides formal In-service presentations to occupational therapy staff and various hospital personnel.
- Provides direction, instruction and review of work performed by Senior O.T.'s, Staff O.T.'s, COTA's, and Rehabilitation Aides.
- Assists clinical coordinator in the organization of the Student Clinical Coordination program and overall supervision of affiliating students.
- Demonstrates awareness of Infection Control Policies and safety procedures in both patient care and physical environment.
- Assumes responsibilities for requirement of various services regarding scheduling, assignment and coordination of patient care and statistical reports.
- Acts as clinical resource for occupational therapy staff in more complex treatment techniques and provides expertise in developing protocols and treatment care plans.
- Assists in the organization end coordination of in-service programs and acts as chairperson in the occupational therapy education committee.
- Maintains professional behavior in all patient and staff Interactions.
- Assumes supervisory role in the absence of the Assistant Chief O.T.

- MA Required
- 4-6 years of Clinical experience Required
- Occupational Therapists Required
- OHS Fit Test Required
