Salary/Hourly Rate:71,000

The senior manager is responsible for providing leadership to the Navigation and Community Counseling Services Department. Beyond the management of these specific services, responsibilities include providing vision and input to the entire organization as part of the Leadership team. Senior managers work implement plans, strategies, and policies to guide and direct their employees to achieve them. Provide supervision and coordination to the department's operations and make sure employees have the resources needed to do their jobs. Draft the annual department budget and oversee expenses throughout the year to maintain its boundaries. Another important function is establishing/maintaining department compliance and standards to ensure staff follow ethical and legal business practices. Other responsibilities include participating in change management; overseeing performance of subordinate managers or employees; attracting the best talent to the organization; and acting as a liaison between the executive management and operations level staff.

Salary Wage $71,000 Annually

Primary Duties

  • Plans and oversees all strategic, operational, and administrative functions of the Navigation and Community Counseling Department, which includes oversight of Housing Stability program related services including, but not limited to, home ownership counseling, rehousing assistance, housing navigation, mental health counseling services as well as outreach in these areas.
  • Manages contracts and relationships with funders. Reviews contract requirements and implement policies and procedures outlined in the scope of work, ensures compliance with contract requirements. Meets with funders and stakeholders regularly, managing funder relationships and expectations. Provides vision for implementing contract requirements and research best practices and innovation services.
  • Manages and/or provides day-to-day leadership of personnel engaged in the Navigation and Community Counseling Department by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Meets departmental financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions in collaboration with the accounting department.
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.
  • Provides strategic advice and recommendations in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new or modified operating policies, practices, and procedures for the organization.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different community requests.
  • Represent the company professionally and have a thorough knowledge of the mission, programs, and values of the organization.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Updates knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and professional networks.
  • Actively participate in the analyzing, design, and implementation of improvements to E-logic Model and HMIS databases to best capture and report on data as it relates to the Navigation Department.
  • Collaborate with HMIS and Denver Human Services on issues related to data, outcomes, and outputs for multiple programs.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information without breach.
  • Comprehensive applied knowledge and expertise in aspects related to Navigation services.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations procedures and developing/implementing new strategies.
  • Ability to analyze problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.
  • Experience in budget development and budget tracking.
  • Bachelor's Degree required along with a minimum of five years direct and progressive experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct practice and/or management of housing stability services or related area.
  • HUD Certified Counseling credential preferred
  • Ensure appropriate staff obtain HUD Certified Counseling credentials
  • A valid driver's license. Must meet Motor Vehicle Requirements per policy insurance carrier, this is a condition of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
