The Pet Care business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. Job Summary

You will be responsible for direct supervision of all production staff (including hourly and temporary employees), ensuring adherence to company policies, lean manufacturing principles, and all applicable laws. This role requires you to execute the published production schedule for your assigned line(s) daily, prioritize efficiency, and ensure all products consistently meet or exceed established quality and safety standards.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the accomplishment of Key Performance Indicators including safety, quality, production, cost and development.
  • Maintain high levels of quality to eliminate sub-standard products.
  • Own the complete employee lifecycle, which includes selection and training of new staff; planning, assigning, and directing daily work; appraising performance; and administering both rewards and disciplinary actions to effectively resolve conflicts and disputes.
  • Improve efficiency of assigned area using lean principles, effective leadership, and KPIs (key performance indicators).
  • Establish, document, and/or adjust work procedures to ensure production schedules, quality requirements, and safety goals are met.
  • Recommend and help implement improvements to plant safety, production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Ensure Training of direct reports on the proper mechanical adjustments to production line equipment.
  • Working with the Quality department interpret specifications and job orders to production workers.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals and improve overall work environment.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization to ensure coordination of activities of each department.
  • Maintain and enforce a professional work environment characterized by mutual respect and adherence to the organization's zero-tolerance policies regarding discrimination or harassment.
  • Must understand, demonstrate, and always promote safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ensure direct reports comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain records as required by policy, practice, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Business Management or related field preferred
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 3 or more years of supervisory experience required
  • Technical experience in mechanical troubleshooting and equipment repair is STRONGLY preferred
  • Experience and/or training in Lean manufacturing is STRONGLY preferred

Required Skills


  • Working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing principles including, but not limited to:



    • Machine variables and constraints of production lines







    • Lean practices



    • Change over procedures



    • Equipment trouble shooting







  • Ability to comprehend and follow the SOPs (standard operating procedures), work instructions, and production masters.



  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.



  • Ability to help in the writing of SOPs, work instructions, standard work, etc.



  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).



  • Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees.



Work Environment

  • Core Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 5:30 AM to 3:00 PM CST
  • Overtime may we required during the week and there may be occasional Saturday work.


90% manufacturing environment and 10% normal office environment
