Job summary: We're looking for teammates who share our passion for creating equitable access to nutritious food and addressing the root causes and impact of hunger. The VEC Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities in Harvesters' Volunteer Engagement Center, including project set-up, volunteer training, quality control, and safety. You will assist the VEC Manager with prioritizing volunteer projects to ensure product inventories are kept at adequate levels. You will train volunteers on specific projects, follow up to ensure understanding of instructions and ensure quality control is maintained. You will inspect produce for volunteer group gleaning projects and ensure that volunteers have adequate supplies to complete the projects safely. The Volunteer Engagement Center operates five days a week (Tuesday - Saturday). Work hours will fall within department work operations. Employees will be scheduled to meet requirements of this operation. This position is assigned 8-hour shifts with availability 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, based on volunteer needs. There will be occasional overtime which may include Sundays and Mondays. The VEC Coordinator functions in a warehouse environment. This requires the use of general office equipment, including computers, copiers and fax machines. It also requires heavy lifting up to 50 pounds and extensive walking through the warehouse 25% of the time. The Coordinator will spend 15% of working hours stationary at a computer terminal, 35% of the time operating equipment, such as a forklift, pallet jack or other machinery, and 25% of their time working with volunteers.
