DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health, a world-class Academic Medical Center, is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, visionary leader to oversee our Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Department throughout the UC San Diego Health organization. This person will have the opportunity to work with an outstanding Department of Radiology and School of Medicine faculty who are thought leaders in their fellowship-trained areas of subspecialty. At UC San Diego, our MRI services provide the most advanced and scientifically driven MRI exams and image quality on state-of-the-art equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurosciences, and MSK exams and/or intraoperative procedures in our new Jacob Medical Center operating suites. It also includes overseeing MRI services for the region's only comprehensive level-one trauma center and TJC-Accredited Certified Comprehensive Acute Stroke Program. The position is responsible for the managerial and operational needs of the MRI Radiology service line for the Health System. Duties include developing and managing technical QA programs, providing training for staff, managing protocols and policies, recruiting and interviewing new staff, providing new employee orientation, conducting staff performance evaluations, ordering supplies, acting as a liaison for MRI customers, effectively communicating to resolve problems, enforcing policies and standards of practice, and coaching and disciplining as required. The role also involves working with department and hospital leadership to meet regulatory standards and achieve successful accreditations.

The candidate must be able to demonstrate and apply comprehensive knowledge of MRI safety, including magnet safety practices, patient and staff screening, and adherence to state, federal, and institutional regulations across all MRI locations. The manager is responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance, driving continuous improvement, and upholding the highest standards of safety for both patients and staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eleven (11) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's Degree in a related area plus seven (+7) years of related experience/training to include three years of lead and/or Supervisory experience, preferably in MRI Radiology setting overseeing 25 + employees.

  • Proven experience and proven clinical practice knowledge with applied background in Imaging Services/MRI.

  • Thorough knowledge of terms, concepts, and protocols.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge in an acute care setting to improve operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Registered Technologist for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) issued by ARRT or ARMRIT.
  • Five(5) years of experience as a MRI Tech in similar role and setting.
  • Previous experience working as and MRSO in a hospital setting.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $132,600 - $259,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $63.51 - $124.43

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
