Manages the process of identifying, qualifying, and personally soliciting and cultivating a portfolio of donors. Works closely with colleagues from other teams to coordinate prospect management activity. Plays an integral role in helping meet fundraising goals by applying superior relationship-building skills, mature judgement, strategic thinking and tactics, and excellent writing abilities to the fundraising activities of the hospital.
Essential Functions
Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects.
-Coordinate and conduct meetings with donors and prospects.
-Build and nurture effective working relationships with senior management, physicians, researchers and volunteer leaders.
-Work with prospect research staff to request profiles, collect relevant information about donors, track activity and manage moves .
-Other projects as identified.

Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required

Licenses and Credentials

Experience
significant fundraising experience 5-7 years required fundraising experience in major gifts within an academic medical or research institution, and/or campaign and planning giving experience 5-7 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- An understanding of major gift fundraising principles and practices, with demonstrated skills in portfolio management and developing successful fundraising strategies to close major gifts.
- Demonstrated success in identifying prospects, building constituent relationships and following through using a variety of communication and technology tools.
- Aptitude for producing strategic, high-level communications aimed at strengthening affiliations between constituents and an organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office systems and software.
- Superb written and oral communication skills and intellectual curiosity; the ability to understand complex scientific and medical information and then synthesize and communicate this information in an effective and compelling manner.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build successful professional relationships within and across departments and institutions.
- Mature professional judgment.
- Analytical thinking capacity.
- Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner and in collaboration with others.
- Superior follow-through and ability to meet deadlines.
