Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Junior Software Engineer who will provide support on various projects emphasizing software development and analysis utilizing AFSIM modeling environments, including discrete event simulation, mission model operation, and postprocessors of model data within an agile development model.This position will be in St Louis, Missouri.
Your essential job functions will include, but may not be limited to:
  • You will be working on developing capabilities within modeling and simulation frameworks/ software tools.
  • You will be responsible for supporting software design and development, as well as testing and documentation activities.
  • You will be working on various projects and programs supporting the shareholders and stakeholders.
  • You will be providing analytical rigor utilizing various tools, including AFSI,M to support customer requirements.
  • You will support the team in multiple domains, designing, developing, and implementing of scenarios and models.
Qualifications
  • Experience in at least one or more high-level programming languages (e.g., C++, C#, Java, Python).
  • Proficiency in object-oriented design skills.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management (preferably Git), build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Experience/Familiarity with Windows and Linux developer environments. (CMD/Bash, Visual Studio/VS Code)
  • Outstanding skills in communicating complex technical issues and in providing comprehensive written, oral, and/or digital products (including document organization and technical writing).
  • Familiarity with analytical software packages.
  • Analytic skills and the ability to apply these skills in a multi-tasking environment where more than one project may require his/her participation at a given time (typically one primary project and one or two ancillary projects).
  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation methodologies, specifically developing experimental designs and executing study plans.
Desired skills:
  • Experience in agile software engineering environments.
  • Experience/Familiarity with developing and modeling/utilizing AFSIM.
  • Experience/Familiarity with analytical methodologies and tools, especially as they apply to the AFSIM
  • Experience/Familiarity in developing model inputs and post-processing of model data.
  • Experience/Familiarity with one or more of the following:
  • Software development.
  • Graphical user interface development.
  • AGILE processes
  • LINUX environments
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or related field.
Clearance Requirements:
  • Eligible for a Secret Clearance to start.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
