Requisition ID req34694 Working Title Education Specialist Position Grade 11 Position Summary The Southwest Center for Advancing Clinical and Translational Innovation (SW CACTI) at the University of New Mexico HSC is looking for a creative, skilled, and flexible education specialist to join our team. SW CACTI works toward improving the health and well-being of New Mexico and Arizona by supporting collaborative and sustainable research that supports the dissemination of evidence-based practices to inform local health decisions. It also promotes the emphasis on clinical and translational research to facilitate improvement in community health, the training of community-based researchers, and the emergence of community voice in the direction and implementation of clinical research. The successful candidate will have: * Passion for developing others * Strong written and oral communication skills * Interest in instructional design * Ability to work in a team and independently * Knowledge of training development methodologies This person will work with our Workforce Development team, developing multimedia training resources to advance the skills of the translational research workforce. Duties include: 1) identify competencies for each cadre of the translational workforce (staff, faculty, trainees, industry and community partners); 2) prioritize development of training programs to address the largest competency gaps in our study teams; 3) identify ad hoc committees or faculty to assist with content of new training programs, when applicable; 4) develop online web-based delivery of training programs; 5) develop assessment tools for learners; and 6) track and evaluate the training programs so that continual improvement can occur. Duties and Responsibilities: * Plans and designs training programs offered through the SW CACTI's Workforce Development (WD) module (including web-based and didactic learning). * Determines formats and approaches to achieve program and budget objectives; defines needs of target populations; researches trends at the national and state level, as appropriate to the position. * Coordinates activities of support staff, supports the development and access to tailored, practical and interactive training resources for HSC research faculty and staff. * Creates standards for online teaching, produce graphics, web page templates, and customize the web-based content for all online training programs offered through the Translational Workforce Development(TWD). * Manages and facilitates program activities, to include web-based and didactic learning * Writes, edits, and coordinates development of course catalogs, promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program. * Develops and maintains records and databases for learners and tracks and evaluates the training programs so that continual improvement can occur. * Coordinates trainee registration for the SW CACTI's WD module. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications * Knowledge of GCP or GLP Training Programs. * Experience with developing and implementing face-to-face and online training programs. * Experience in creating, composing, and editing written materials * Strong MS word, Excel and Powerpoint Skills * A/V and Media support Editing web site and scripting * Experience in customer service skills working with faculty administrators and external agencies Additional Requirements Due to budgetary constraints, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa.
