Mead & Hunt has an exciting opportunity for a limited-term, full-time summer position within our Transportation group starting May/June 2026 and ending in August/September 2026 in our Charleston, WV location providing valuable exposure to real-world transportation projects and the chance to contribute meaningfully to our team's success.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with conducting topographic surveys and boundary surveys
  • Familiarity with data collecting and/or robotic total station
  • Experience with GPS devices
  • Experience conducting topographic and/or boundary surveys
  • Experience conducting courthouse research related to surveys
  • Assisting with construction staking

Interns should expect the following from a summer internship experience with Mead & Hunt:

  • Exposure to projects and people in all of our transportation groups
  • Collaborate with project managers and colleagues on multiple transportation projects that vary in size and scope while developing familiarity with the federal, state, and local design standards
  • Utilize technical software programs to analyze, prepare, and quality check client deliverables.
  • Field observations and data collection
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports and memos
  • Participation in technical and client meetings
  • Fun team-building activities that will allow you to network with professionals and interns alike

Successful candidates must have completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in Civil Engineering or Land Surveying from an accredited college or university.

Interns will be expected to visit project sites for data collection as well as out-of-office meetings and events. Therefore, a valid driver's license is recommended.
