Description
The salary range for this position is $68,500 - $72,200, depending on experience and qualifications.
Summary
The area Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Company's Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental programs including regulatory and system compliance for but not limited to: OSHA, EPA, ODA, DNR, and Local Governments. The EHS Specialist will be tasked with supporting the Director of EHS to ensure the Company's operations comply with OSHA and other regulatory agencies, company policies, and industry's best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership/Business Partnership
- Act as an EHS business partner to site leadership, driving compliance and leading safety and environmental initiatives.
- Build trust with hourly employees through regular interaction in production and processing facilities.
- Lead safety conversations, root cause investigations, and risk assessments.
Program Oversight
- Coordinate and support projects requiring specialized EHS knowledge.
- Develop and deliver EHS training and meetings.
- Perform compliance inspections/audits; report findings to farm management and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments aligned with OSHA, EPA, ODA, and other standards.
- Manage on-site environmental monitoring and testing.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports (e.g., Air Emissions, Tier II, TRI, Wastewater, NPDES).
- Maintain accurate OSHA and injury records in partnership with on-site HR team.
- Support Worker's Compensation administration, return-to-work programs, and claims management.
- Oversee inspection and upkeep of safety equipment (fall protection, respiratory protection, confined space entry, etc.).
Community & Regulatory Engagement
- Communicate with EPA, OSHA, ODA, DNR, and local agencies regarding compliance matters.
- Represent the company at community meetings and respond to public inquiries.
Continuous Improvement & Project Management
- Develop action plans to address program deficiencies and prevent incidents.
- Review accident statistics, identify trends, and recommend corrective measures.
- Collaborate with the broader EHS team on global initiatives across compliance, sustainability, diversity, and inclusion.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 3-5 years of progressive EHS experience; GSP/ASP/CSP eligibility or related certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and pending legislation.
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills; Spanish proficiency preferred.
- Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and develop strategies.
- Strong PC skills (MS Office and internal management systems).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams and levels.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally stoop or reach.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Requires close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Remote or office-based depending on location, with frequent travel to facilities and operational areas (barns, mills, processing areas)
