Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect with extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing modern data solutions across cloud and on-prem environments. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic architecture and leadership responsibilities. It will be instrumental in building, optimizing, and developing governance frameworks for the enterprise data ecosystems that will drive actionable insights and business value.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in SQL, ETL pipelines, and modern cloud platforms with strong problem-solving skills, data governance experience, and a proven ability to develop and execute the data architecture vision and roadmap aligned with business objectives while collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering & Architecture
    • Design, build, and optimize ETL pipelines using tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Alteryx, and Databricks.
    • Design & implement modern data models, data lakes, data warehouses, data mesh, and cloud-native pipelines across SQL Server, Snowflake, AWS and Azure ecosystems.
    • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Docker, and Terraform.
    • Lead the design and implementation of Change Data Capture (CDC) and data integration solutions.
    • Implement data quality, lineage, and cataloging solutions.
  • Data Governance & Quality
    • Establish and manage data catalogs and governance frameworks using tools like Azure Purview and Databricks Unity Catalog.
    • Ensure data quality, lineage, and security across distributed systems.
    • Document data architectures, pipelines, and standards to support maintainability and scalability.
    • In-depth knowledge of DAMA-BMBOK and DAMA International standards.
  • Analytics & Business Enablement
    • Build dashboards and reporting solutions in Power BI and Business Objects to deliver insights across HR, Finance, and Operations.
    • Identify high-value use cases for AI and predictive analytics in collaboration with stakeholders.
    • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
    • Introduce and apply AI/ML tools (Databricks Genie Spaces, Gemini, ChatGPT, CoPilot) to accelerate innovation and automation.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Serve as the technical leader and subject matter expert for data and AI/ML.
    • Mentor junior engineers and analysts, promoting best practices in coding, design, and data strategy.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams, providing expertise in database optimization, performance tuning, and workflow automation.
    • Lead development collaboration efforts, including vendor evaluation and recruitment of data engineers, analysts, and data scientists as the team expands.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, architecture, and analytics roles.
  • Proven expertise with SQL, Python, and C# for building enterprise-grade data solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms: Azure (Azure SQL, Data Factory, Databricks, Purview) and AWS (Glue, S3).
  • Strong background in data modeling, ETL design, governance, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with DevOps practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Docker, Terraform).
  • Proficiency with reporting/BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, SSRS).
  • Familiarity with AI/automation tools (Databricks Genie Spaces, ChatGPT, Gemini).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Mechanical Engineering background a plus).

Preferred

  • Experience and knowledge of the construction industry (construction, field operations, IoT, financials).
  • Demonstratable experience delivering IT-solutions that drove innovation.

  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
  • Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals
  • Microsoft Azure Security Fundamentals
  • Teradata Vantage Certified
