Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
Knowledge, Skills and Experience to improve the lives of others. Public Policy is an interdisciplinary social science major designed to provide students with the theoretical perspective, analytical skill, and substantive knowledge needed to respond to major domestic and global policy problems. A double major in Public Policy and a related social science or professional school is common. |
Position Summary |
This position is located in the Department of Public Policy within the College of Arts and Sciences. This tenure-track position includes 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service to the department. The service portion includes but is not limited to program committees, thesis committees, review committees, and administrative roles within the department or college. The department's current teaching load is 2-2 (i.e., 4 courses per year). Candidates will conduct first-rate, policy-relevant research and teach core courses in public policy at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Candidates will have strong potential, or an established record, of outstanding university teaching, research excellence, and a desire to train and work with a varying body of students. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
PhD in Public Policy, or related social science discipline (e.g., Political Science, Economics) by the time of appointment. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated interest in policy-relevant research and the training to teach core courses in our interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs. Scholars who conduct research related to environmental policy, international development, or poverty are particularly encouraged to apply. |
