Responsibilities

Job SummaryThe founding Director of the HonorHealth Research Institute (HRI) Interventional Neuropsychiatry Research Program will lead and develop a cutting-edge program focused on neuromodulation techniques, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and other brain stimulation therapies. This role involves advancing research through grant submissions, IRB/IDE protocols, data analysis, and manuscript writing, while also supporting clinical integration, training, and interdisciplinary collaboration between Honor Health and Arizona State University (ASU). The director will oversee program development, supervise future research faculty, oversee research support staff, and ensure the integration of neuroimaging with neuromodulation for both research and clinical applications. Essential Functions
  • Research Leadership
Design, lead, and execute sponsored and novel research studies using brain stimulation (e.g., TMS, TMS-fMRI-integrated protocols, and real-time fMRI neurofeedback).Submit grants, IRB/IDE applications, and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.Perform advanced neuroimaging analysis (e.g., MRI-guided TMS targeting) and data interpretation.Engage and interaction on behalf of the program with community leaders and Foundation members relative to philanthropic opportunities
  • Clinical Collaboration & Training
Train clinical staff (e.g., physicians, technicians) in evidence-based neuromodulation techniques.Develop standardized training programs for TMS credentialing and competency assessments.Support the clinical brain stimulation service line by optimizing protocols for patient care.
  • Program Development, Administration & Strategic Innovation
Build and direct the Interventional Neuropsychiatry Research Program, fostering growth in grants, collaborations, and infrastructure.Serve as a liaison between Honor Health, ASU, and external partners to facilitate interdisciplinary projects.Oversee the integration of neuroimaging and stimulation technologies (e.g., simultaneous TMS-fMRI, EEG-TMS-fMRI).Advise on MRI hardware/software procurement to ensure research-grade capabilities.Pioneer novel methodologies (e.g., multimodal imaging and stimulation protocols, multimodal interventions coupling brain state control during TMS, integration of EEG-fMRI-Neurofeedback-TMS) and expanding the program's translational impact.
  • Supervision & Mentorship
Provide oversight for research program staff, trainees, and potential future PhD hires.Mentor junior investigators and contribute to academic activities (e.g., conferences, workshops).
  • Education
Train medical students, residents, and fellows in state-of-the-art neuromodulation techniques by contributing to Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education Programs.Train undergraduate students and graduate students on research involving neuromodulation and neuroimaging techniques.
  • Regulatory & Compliance
Ensure adherence to ethical standards and institutional policies for research and clinical trials.Collaborate with regulatory bodies to maintain compliance for neuromodulation therapies. EducationPhD or MD - Neuroscience, psychiatry, biomedical engineering, or related field - Required ExperienceExpertise in neuromodulation (TMS/ECT), neuroimaging, and clinical translational research - RequiredProven track record in grant writing, publications, and interdisciplinary collaboration - PreferredLeadership experience in program development and team supervision - Preferred Certifications and Licensure
