Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing administrative and business support to the organization in order to achieve operational goals. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following General Administration duties: Produces documents, collects, records, sorts and files information, handles mail, prepares routine reports, makes travel arrangements, arranges appointments, responds to inquiries, data entry, and operates office equipment. An organizational related support or service (administrative or clerical) role or a role that focuses on support of daily business activities (e.g., technical, clinical, non-clinical) operating in a "hands on" environment. The majority of time is spent in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. An experienced level role that requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Works under moderate supervision, problems are typically of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures, and communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.

Job Overview

This position performs/supervises services in the Imaging Services area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

3. One (1) year of applicable medical or patient care experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Some college or Associate's degree.

2. Three (3) years of applicable medical or patient care experience.

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Maintains current knowledge in area(s) of assisting the Radiologic Technologist in the performance of diagnostic radiology procedures.

2. Assists radiologists during Fluoroscopy procedures. Also obtains clinical history for radiology exams, educating patients, changing patients etc.

3. Assists with workflow to optimize efficiency and reduce delays.

4. Performs the following patient care procedures: Make basic observations and report them to staff; handle body fluids using universal precautions, includes assisting with bedpans, emesis basins, etc. as needed; assist in lifting, positioning, and ambulating patients.

5. Assists with entering departmental staff scheduling in scheduling system, ordering departmental supplies, maintains adequate room stock, etc.

6. Assists with annual regulatory compliance required QC of lead apron survey, cassette surveys, documentation of physics surveys, equipment PM's etc.

7. Provides general clerical support including filling and supply ordering, etc.

8. Contacts physician's offices to obtain written orders for exams when necessary.

9. Provides front line customer service by coordinating front desk staff and functions, including visitor reception and patient registration, service recovery, answering calls at the main telephone console, patient appointment scheduling.

10. Serves as "customer service ambassador" by being the first contact with patients or visitors, either in person or by telephone.

11. Enters orders, scanning paperwork, escorting patients to and from the exam room(s) as needed into RIS and PACs system.

12. Uses Central Transport scheduling system to arrange transportation to and from department. Transports patients interdepartmentally if needed.

13. Identifies patient verbally by name and DOB and checks ID bracelet.

Physical Requirements:

1. Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, and lifting of 30-35 lbs.

2. Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate radiology equipment.

3. Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations; observe patients, read monitors and documents, and hear audible equipment alarms.

Skills & Abilities:

1. Knowledge of medical terminology.

2. Clerical skills.

3. General knowledge of RIS and PACs system.

4. Ability to apply safety principles to ensure patient and staff safety.

5. Ability to apply principles of Universal Precautions to minimize exposure to/spread of infectious organisms.
